Discover DIY Projects for home decor. Dust off that old table in the basement and get started on a DIY project. We always wonder what happens to all the glass people buy from us. As it turns out, a lot of people are making really cool things. They're fixing up vintage pieces like new. They're making new projects from their own visions. And they're using our glass and mirror products to put the final, fabulous finishing touches on their work.
We love to see what you're working on, and we love to share it with others. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it! And, we're here to help. Not sure what to buy? We're an email, live chat, or phone call away, with glass experts standing by to help.
So what's been on tap lately? Here's a sampling of some recent projects that have never before been featured on our blog.
"Your excellent selection and prompt shipping certainly made this corner of my hubby's JD room an instant conversation piece!" --Laurie Polak
Umm, for starters, is anyone else a little jealous that Laurie's husband has an entire room dedicated to his love for Jack Daniel's? This brings the term "man cave" to a whole new level! Well done.
In all seriousness, you can make a table out of pretty much anything you want. Our customers have made them out of an airplane engine, a Jeep engine block, antiques, and their own creations. If you have a tape measure and know how to use it, we've got a great selection of glass table tops - in stock or custom cut to your exact specifications.
Customer Bill Wingate says, "I refinished this antique table and replaced the glass top with a clear beveled piece."
Great job, Bill! It's easy to get a piece of custom cut glass that is perfect for your project. In Bill's case, he got a piece of clear glass with a beveled edge, which means that we machine the edges of the glass to be on an angle. As you can see from the photo, this look really complements the style of his table.
When you order custom glass from us, you get the most custom options available online. We also do all the machining in-house, so we closely monitor the quality ourselves. You can customize the color of your glass (from bronze to gray and rain glass plus ultra-clear low-iron glass). You can customize the edges that you want, depending on whether it will fit down on top of the table, be on top, or if it has to fit in something like a cabinet or patio table.
Here's a project made by customer Lane Graham.
"I used Dulles glass for my glass top. The glass fit perfect, delivery time was extremely fast. Quality work. Will be back for my next project."
Thanks, Lane! As you can see, Lane made a custom wood table, putting it together himself. With a project like this, he needed a custom piece of glass that would fit inside his hand-made wood table frame. With some careful measurements and a little help from Dulles Glass, Lane was on his way. Glad we could help!
When Melissa wanted a custom mirror for her recently upcycled side table, she turned to Dulles Glass.
"Just wanted to say I am in love with the custom mirrors I ordered! The online ordering process was quick and easy, they shipped and arrived in perfect condition couldn't be happier! We're looking to use you again for our new shower glass door and a table top :) Thanks so much for a great product and service!"
Why thank you, Melissa! We think the table looks great. That is a DIY project that you can be proud of.
If you need a custom mirror, you can order them from us online. Like our custom glass products, it's easy to order just the right size mirror for your project. You'll get to customize the color (bronze or gray can make a dramatic statement) and the edge types of your mirror (beveled, pencil polish, etc.). If we happen to have a stock size of a certain mirror, we're sure to give you those options also -- which will save you time and money. If we don't have it in stock, we'll make it for you -- a high-quality mirror delivered in one piece to your door.
We've written a lot about how to buy custom mirrors online if you need more help deciding.
Here's an interesting one from our customer, Linda. Linda writes:
"I have shutters on most windows in the house, but I had an odd little window that was too expensive to put shutters on and I wanted to do something with it. The answer was to mount glass shelves to display my colored glass collection."
Kudos to Linda for finding a unique and creative way to use an "odd little window" for something near and dear to her heart -- her beautiful glass collection. Thanks for sharing, Linda! We love it.
Linda ordered glass shelves and brackets from our online store. As you might suspect, the shelves come with as many options as our other glass and mirror products, including custom sizes. On our website, you can get exactly the size of the shelf you want custom cut. Or, we offer a large selection of pre-cut shelves with coordinating brackets included. Either way, you're sure to find the exact glass shelf you need for your project. Need more information? Check out our post on glass shelves for your bathroom.
We LOVE hearing from our customers. Have a project you're super proud of? Send us an email at [email protected] or post it to our Facebook page!
